How much should I share with my lawyer?

In criminal case, should i volunteer all information to the public defender representing me or not since they work for government too?

Public defenders, federal or otherwise, are paid by public funds (government paid), but they do not represent the interest of the “State” or “People” the same way the prosecution does. Their primary charge is to defend their clients like any other defense attorney.
Therefore, clients should assist their attorney in any way that will enable to public defender (your defense attorney) defend you effectively.
