What is needed to gain asylum in the U.S.? in Canada?

To qualify for asylum in the USA, an applicant need to meet two requirements.

  1. establish that the applicant fears persecution in their home country.
  2. Applicants must prove that they would be persecuted because of at least one of five grounds for protection: Race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or particular social group.
